Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 13

The flight there was surprisingly quiet and still. There weren’t many people on board; no children, nobody who was scared of flying, just a couple of business women and men and other passengers flying alone including me.
When I got to the Denver airport, I found my duffle bag and heaved it over my shoulder. I walked out to the lobby and searched the benches for my family. I stood in the middle of the lobby feeling like an idiot when I heard my name being called. I whipped my head around until I saw my little sister waving at me. My mom was behind her motioning me towards them. I smiled and headed straight for them.
I set my bag down before diving into my mothers arms. Her touch made my heart warm and tears rushed to my eyes. When we separated she took my cheeks in her hands and smiled, “I missed my baby girl.” She said and kissed my forehead.
“Hey!” I heard Alexis shout. I looked over at her and grinned. She smirked before wrapping her arms around my neck in a huge hug. Of course she was a bit taller than me so people always confused who was older. But that didn’t matter this moment, right then I was happy to see her.
“Where’s Brock and dad?” I asked.
“We haven’t told them yet.” My mom winked and I laughed,
“Oh boy, this’ll be fun.” I smiled as I picked up my bag from the ground and headed towards the exit.
I spotted my mother’s van from miles away; it wasn’t that hard to find considering how huge it was. Long story short; she used to own a daycare so she bought that gigantic thing. All three of us walked to the van; my mom opened up the trunk and I threw my bag in it. I hopped in the front seat, expecting my mom to sit next to me. To my surprise, Alexis opened the door and sat in the drivers seat.
“Woah!” I exclaimed, “What the hell are you doing?”
“Oh, I have my permit now,” She smiled proudly, “I drove all the way here and I’ll drive all the way back.”
I suddenly became nervous. I fidgeted in my seat, twisting my fingers together and biting my lip, “Mom!” I finally turned around, “You let her drive here?”
“Yeah, she’s a great driver!” She smiled and gave Alexis a thumbs up.
I gulped as she started the car. Usually I didn’t wear a seatbelt (Yes, I know I’m bad) but today I was sorta fearing for my life. I grabbed the seatbelt and strapped myself in.

Luckily we made it back home alive, the airport wasn’t too far away from my childhood house, and I was happy about that. Alexis made a fair parking job in our driveway next to my dad’s Ford Truck. My family liked to own big cars.
We all hopped out at the same time; I saw my mom take my duffle bag out of the trunk and wrap it around her shoulder.
“You two go first,” I said to Alexis and my mom, “I’ll hide behind you and surprise them.” They nodded in agreement to the plan and we snuck up to the door. Alexis opened it up and we all made our way inside.
“Well hey you two, it took you long enough to get to the store and back!” I heard my dad’s rough voice at the dinner table.
“We weren’t exactly at the store…” My mom said and they separated to reveal me.
“Tailynn?!” My dad smiled with delight.
“Daddy!” I ran up to give him a hug. I always felt like a little girl when I was in his loving arms.
“Tay Tay?!” I heard my little brother call out my nickname.
“Brocky!” I spun around and hugged the crap outta him.
“What are you doing here?” His voice was muffled through my shirt. I let him go before answering,
“I’m here to visit! My boyfriend is in New York so I needed a place to go to keep my mind off of him and here was the best place I could think of!”
“You’re boyfriend?” My dad got curious.
“Yeah his name is An-” I stopped mid-sentence. I had to quickly think of a different name, a name Alexis wouldn’t recognize. “Antonio. Yeah. He’s latino.” I cleared my throat and made an exit upstairs where my room used to be. That was a close one.
“Hey!” Alexis trailed behind me.
“Hey yourself!” I continued to climb the stairs.
“You aren’t gonna tell me anything about him? I thought we always told each other everything.” Her tone of voice made me stop and turn around.
“I just don’t think you’d wanna hear about the things we do and stuff. I don’t hate you for being curious but I just need a little space, okay?” I put my hand on top of her brown curly head.
“Okay, what ever you say.” She slumped back downstairs and gave me time to get to my room and unpack.
I turned the corner and made my way to my room; my old room. The last time I had been in here I was packing up all my valuables for California. My mom was crying in the doorway and my twelve year old sister was trying to comfort five year old Brock in his room. The memory of that one day left my mind as quickly as it had come. I wanted to have a fun time here; I didn’t want to remember the past and what I had done to my family three years ago.
I sat on my twin sized bed and set my bag on the ground next to it. This bed felt so small without there being an extra space meant for Nicolette or Anthony. Every thing in this room felt so small; my closet, my nightstand, my vanity, even my window was small. I never realized how cooped up I really was in here; no wonder I left.
I heard my name being called from downstairs. I didn’t hesitate from getting up, I was anxious to hear what my mother wanted to do now that I was here. I bounded downstairs like when I was a little girl at Christmas, running to see what Santa had brought me. I headed towards the kitchen where I heard my name.
“So we were thinking about doing something fun tonight!” My mom spoke from the stove; she was making lunch.
“Like what?” I asked, sitting on one of the kitchen stools.
“Like going downtown at night; to remind you of what downtown Denver looks like with all the lights. Does that sound good?” She turned to look at me for an answer.
“Yeah that sounds great!” I spun around on the stool.
“Okay Hannah and Darcy will be here around 6 and-”
“Woah, woah, woah Hannah and Darcy?!” I interrupted her; stopping in mid spin.
“Yeah, what’s wrong with them? They used to be your best friends in high school!” My mom turned her whole body to face me.
“Yeah, that was in high school, a place I don’t wanna remember! Those girls turned into complete bitches the last time I saw them! Why do you think I hung out with Nicolette all the time?” I tried to see the good in them coming but just couldn’t find it.
“Oh common Tay, two of my friends will be there too, so it’s not like you’re going to be alone with them.” She put her hand on her hip which was a warning sign. A sign that told me I better listen to her or she’ll send me back to California.
“Okay, okay fine.” I sighed and continued to spin.
My mom turned back to the stove. It was quiet until Alexis came sprinting towards us from the dining room.
“Hey mom, why can’t I come with?!” She asked.
“Yeah mom, why can’t she come with?!” I mimicked her but meant what I said. If Alexis was there, that could possibly take away some of the awkward moments that were sure to come.
“Because downtown Denver is too busy at night and I don’t want to lose you.” Was her simplest answer.
“Seriously?” Alexis whined, “I’m taller than Tailynn! If you’re going to lose anyone it’d be the daughter you’re willing to take the most!” She pointed at me.
“True dat.” I smiled. When I stopped spinning in the stool, the room didn’t. I held the counter to balance myself.
“Well….” My mom had stopped cooking again to look at us, “Well I guess you have a point there.”
“Sooooo, can I go with?” I saw Alexis cross her fingers behind her back.
“I guess so.”
“YES!” Alexis ran over to me and I high fived her.
The good news was Alexis was coming with to help me stand my ground. The bad news? I was gonna have to deal with some tough ass bitches in four hours.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 12

“Today’s the day!” I said to myself. Nicolette had already left for The Philippians and I was left alone in the house for a day before I had to leave for Colorado.
My plane left at 4:00 and it was 2:00 now; I decided it’d be best if I left as soon as I was finished; all I had left to do was set my DVR and get my stuff out to my car. My car was a crappy beat up old VW Bug. When I got it, I thought it was the best thing ever; that was when I was sixteen. Since Nico had gotten her bad ass convertible, that’s what I always drove around in. Now I was forced to drive the piece of crap to the airport.
“Oh well,” I said as I thought about it, “Better than nothing.”
I set my DVR so it could record all my favorite shows for the week. I didn’t mind missing some but the others were mandatory and I had to see them. Finishing the record settings I went to my room and grabbed my duffel bag. That bag was magic; you could fit anything and every thing into it and it wouldn’t get full.
I took my keys off of the kitchen counter and headed out the door. Locking it behind me I shut it and teetered down the stairs. I threw my stuff into the trunk of my so-called car and got into the front. I drove down to the airport in the quiet. The radio had died years ago but I never really had the money or will-power to get it fixed. I rolled down all the windows to make it feel like Nico’s convertible but to no avail; I hated this car.
Finally I saw the sign to the LA airport and sighed in relief, I had to get out of this thing. I found the closest parking space and took it. I was surprised my Bug even made it this far. As I walked down the parking lot to the entrance, duffle bag hanging from my shoulder, I passed a couple of cars that resembled Anthony’s. My heart jumped each time I saw one but I didn’t know if any of them were actually his. I had never paid any attention to his license plate which I now realized could’ve been a good idea.
Even so, I made my way to the airport and entered with excitement shivering throughout my body. I was stoked to see my family; I was kind of relieved that I was going to spend a week with them to keep my mind off of not seeing Anthony. I needed them.
I made my way through security and luggage, all I had to do was wait. I sat near the entrance of my flight and checked the time on my cell phone; it read 3:40. I was ready to get outta here, ready to spend time with my family, ready to-
“Tailynn?” A familiar male’s voice made me turn around in my seat.
“Anthony?” My heart skipped two beats.
“What are you doing here?” he asked me as he walked up to hug me.
I realized I hadn’t told him a thing. “I’m going to visit my family while you’re gone.” I said.
I laid my head on his chest and wrapped my arms around his waist. I listened to his heartbeat and closed my eyes; I already missed his touch.
“Where’s Ian?” I asked, my head still resting on him.
“Sitting on a bench,” his voice was muffled; it mixed in with his heartbeat. I smiled embracing every last moment I had with him; trying to memorize what he felt like. “Over there.” He finished his sentence when I lifted my head. He pointed to where he’d come from. I looked behind Anthony to see Ian sitting in a seat; his crutches leaned up against it. He turned around and waved at me. I grinned and waved back.
“Where’s Nicolette?” Anthony returned the question.
“She flew to The Philippians to visit her parents. We’ve got the same idea; visit our families to keep ourselves sane while you’re gone.” I gave a half smile.
“Hmm, I didn’t know that’s where she was from,” he laughed, “but I’m glad you’re getting yourselves out of your apartment. That’s good.” He looked at me with his beautiful brown eyes.
“Me too; the only problem is, my sister Alexis is pretty much in love with you guys and I haven’t told her who my boyfriend is yet. I don’t want to…” I explained. Anthony took my hand and tried to comfort me,
“Don’t worry, just tell her when the time is right; I’m sure she’ll understand.” I tried to smile but the will to argue with him took over my mind,
“Remember the first day I met you?” he nodded. “Alexis still thinks I act like that when I hear, talk or think about Smosh. That’s the real problem.”
“Maybe if I met her and told her myself?” he suggested. “I mean, she’s going to have to find out sooner or later if we’re gonna stay together for a long time.” My stomach flipped just hearing him say we weren’t going to separate permanently anytime soon.
“I think I’ll tell her before I leave, and then when you get back, you can confirm it and try to make her not hate me.” I shrugged.
“Okay good plan.”
“Hey guys!” I heard Ian shout; I tapped Anthony to move out of the way so I could see him.
“What do you want?” I joked.
“Come over here and give me another hug goodbye Tay! Geez!” He spread his arms open wide towards me. I laughed as I rushed over to him and leaped into his arms, almost falling over.
“You weirdo.” I heard him say.
I looked up and stuck my tongue out at him. He pretended to bite it.
“You freak.” I laughed. He was about to make a come back when we heard my flight being called.
“Okay, have fun going where ever you’re going!” Ian smiled. I kissed him on the cheek,
“Don’t worry I will.”
I walked back to Anthony and sighed, realizing I had to say goodbye yet again.
“I have to go now…” I trailed on.
“Flight 33 now boarding.” The next flight was called.
“Oh well, that’s us.” Anthony looked up at where the voice had come from.
I hugged him again before taking his face in my hands, “Call me every day.” I reminded him before placing his lips on mine.
“Don’t worry, I will.” We kissed again until my flight was called for a second time.
“Guess I have to go before they leave without me.” I chuckled.
“Okay; us too.” We smiled at the same time before I had to turn and leave him.
This trip to Colorado had to be good; it just had to.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 11

I sulked back into my apartment and slumped back onto the couch. My eyes started to fill up with tears; my whole living room started to get blurry but I didn’t want to blink and have the salty teardrops fall. I was betrayed by my own tears as they fell without my permission so I quickly wiped them away, wanting to be strong for both Anthony and I.
Suddenly my phone buzzed, it was a text message.
“I already miss you.” It read.
“That makes two of us.” I quickly replied and pushed “send”.
“Well now what?” I heard Nico say from the table, “What are we suppose to do while they’re gone?”
My mind rushed with thoughts until Nico beat me to it, “I know! We haven’t visited our families in literally forever; I think it’d be great for us and for them if we visited them for at least a week.”
The idea swirled in my head, “Yeeeaaahhh…” I said slowly, “Yeah I guess that could work. I haven’t seen Alexis in like a year, she’d be happy to see me again.” Alexis was my 15 year old sister, we fought sometimes but most of the time we were best friends. I also had a little brother named Brock; he’s eight and still a pain but I loved him.
“My mom and dad are still in The Philippians so I get a mini vacation!” Nico whooped. She had no siblings which was why I agreed to live with her in California when we graduated. My family all lived in Colorado; but I loved it there and didn’t mind going back.
“I’m gonna go call my mom and talk to her about it; you should too.” Nico grabbed her phone from the counter and rushed into our room.
I decided to do the same and grabbed my phone from the arm of the couch. I hadn’t bothered to notice that I had gotten another text from Anthony. It was a picture of him giving me a thumbs up in the car. He must’ve been at a stop light because I knew he knew I didn’t want him crashing or getting in trouble. I smiled and exited out of the picture to bring up my contacts; I decided to call my sister since she was the first person in my contacts. I hit the call button and put the phone up to my ear.
She answered on the second ring but I wasn’t surprised, she was attached to her phone, it never left her side. When she saw it was me she knew it was a good sign. “Hello?” I smiled just hearing her voice.
“Alexis!!! How’s is my baby sister?” I giggled as she snorted,
“I’m not a baby Tay! But nice to hear your voice anyway.” I could almost hear her sly smile.
“So is mom or dad home?” I asked.
“Yeah of course.”
“Can I talk to them?”
“Why didn’t you just call them instead of wasting my precious time?” we always used sarcasm in our conversations; it was just a best friend/sister thing.
“Because I wanted to talk to you stupid!” I laughed.
“Oh okay!” I heard her cover the receiver to call our parents. She turned back to the phone to say, “They don’t want to talk to you.”
“Whatever!” I chuckled as I heard my mom take Alexis’ phone.
“Hello?”
“Mom!” was all I said to make her burst into happiness.
“Tailynn!!! How are you? What have you been up to? Are you coming to visit soon?” She threw multiple questions at me.
“I’m okay, I’m not really doing anything, and yes that’s why I called you! I wanted to come home on Sunday! Is that okay?”
“Okay? Of course! It’s perfect! Do you need a ride or are you gonna fly here or what?” I heard a drawer open; she was always taking notes even when she didn’t need to.
“Nahh I’m thinking of just walking there.” I laughed.
“Very funny.” I could tell my mom was smiling.
“I’m going to fly there; it’ll take the least amount of time.” I laid back on the arm of the couch and stared at the white popcorn ceiling.
“Okay that’s fine, do you need money?” She had always been a supportive mother which was why when I was growing up; all my friends said my mom was the best, especially Nicolette because her parents were boring and old.
“No I think I’m fine, I’ll start packing up now and buy a plane ticket. I’ll see you Sunday!” I gave her kissing noises before she handed the phone back to Alexis.
“You’re coming back home?!” she said excitingly.
“Yes I am; for a week!” I was starting to get excited too. Suddenly, she asked me a serious question, “Do you have a boyfriend?”
“Uhhh…yes I do but he’s leaving for New York for two weeks which is why I’m coming over to Colorado. I need you guys right now.” I didn’t bother telling her who it was; I knew she loved Smosh videos and would probably want to kill me if I told her it was Anthony.
“What’s his name? Are you gonna marry him?” That thought never really crossed my mind until she brought it up.
“It’s a secret and I’m not sure…not yet.” I had to give her a straight answer.
“You’re a loser,” she responded to me telling her it was a secret, “You’re gonna have to tell me sooner or later, better make it sooner or I’ll kill you in your sleep!” She sang the last part. I recognized it from the Smosh video, “Cute Furry Kittens”.
“You’re the loser,” I said back, “But I still love you.”
“Well I have to go now, it’s lunch time here. I’ll talk to you on Sunday!” her voice got excited again.
“Okay bye! Love you!”
“Love you too!” She hung up.
I noticed Nicolette was still in our room so I snuck over to it. I heard her voice through the door so I put my ear up to it. It didn’t make any difference though because she was speaking Filipino.
“Pero mom ko talagang nais na dumating sa bahay! Hindi ko na doon sa mga buwan, gusto mo lang makinig sa akin?” She sounded upset.
The only words I could make out were “home” and “month”, Nico had taught me little Filipino when we were living together in a dorm. Even though I didn’t understand much I listened anyway.
“Mangyaring, pangako ko kukunin ko ay mabuti, ako lang miss mo ang dalawang!” This time all I heard was “Please”. She was speaking too fast, so it was hard to get out much.
I heard a couple of yes’ and no’s until she went on another rant which was way too fast and long my mind almost exploded. I decided to retreat and go back to watching TV.
A couple of minutes later the door opened and Nico came out gripping her cell phone tightly. I turned around when she started to say, “My mom said I can go but I have to follow her rules and stay with them 24/7. I don’t know why she’s acting like that, I love her and all but my partying days kinda ended like a year and a half ago.”
“So that’s what you were talking about?” I chuckled, “Couldn’t understand much through the door.” I motioned to where I had been standing.
“Oh. Well that’s the point of speaking in a different language in America. So English speaking people can’t understand our personal business.” She smirked at me.
“Whatever,” I returned it with a snarky remark, “Anyway, I have to go pack because I’m going to Colorado on Sunday.” I realized that was the same time Anthony and Ian were leaving for New York and my heart sank.
“Lucky. I love your family.” Nico stuck her tongue out at me.
“You get to go to The Philippians so be quiet.” I returned it. “I bet your mom will want to do fun things with you there. She does love you believe it or not.” I laughed.
“Yeah well sometimes it doesn’t feel like it.” She muttered and sat at the kitchen table.
I hoisted myself up off the couch and went into our room to get a luggage bag. I started to fill it up with enough clothes for the week. I felt bad that Nicolette was sad about what her mom had said, but I felt even worse that Ian couldn’t be with her to help her through. Then I remembered Anthony’s smiling face telling me everything would be okay, and hoped that Ian had said the same to her.

Quick notes: Alexis is based on my Smoshy bff Diandra and I'm sorry if the Filipino is off, Google Translate can suck sometimes xP Thanks for reading!!!

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 10

Just then we heard a groan come from the bedroom; it didn’t sound like a “waking up” groan, it sounded like a “what-we-did-last-night” groan.
I whipped my head over to look at Anthony, “Um…I’m scared to check what’s happening…” I muttered.
“Well I’m not, they interrupted us yesterday, let’s go burst their moment today.” He snickered as he set his mug on the table and stood up.
I was hesitant to follow him but decided that he couldn’t really do it alone. I sighed and stood up, quietly tip-toeing behind Anthony. A couple more soft moans came from inside the bedroom and Anthony put his finger up to his lips to indicate to me to be quiet. When we got to the door, Anthony counted quietly,
“One…two…three!” He whipped open the door and I saw a sight I never want to see ever again.
“HOLY SHIT!” Anthony exclaimed and slammed the door shut, “WHAT THE FUCK DID WE JUST SEE?!” he asked me, covering his eyes.
“Bad idea! Bad idea!!!!” I repeated over-and-over, a bubble of laughter creeping up through my stomach.
We heard Ian laughing from inside the room and him shout, “COMMON GUYS, MY PANTS ARE BACK ON!!!”
“There is no way in hell I’m ever going back into that room!” I shouted back.
I heard Nicolette laughing as well, “It’s not as bad as what we saw you two doing!”
This time Anthony let out a breath of anger, “Bullshit!” he exclaimed “Ian, you’ve seen me with my shirt off before! I have never seen your….” He shuddered and couldn’t even finish his sentence.
The door opened a sliver but Anthony grabbed the door knob and pulled it shut.
“Hey! Let us out; we’re hungry!” Ian whined.
“No! I can never look at you the same again!” Anthony joked. I nodded in agreement.
Finally after more whining from the couple Anthony decided to let them out but didn’t look at Ian in the eye. Ian hobbled over to the kitchen with his crutches, Nicolette trailing behind him, her face was red in embarrassment and I knew I had something to blackmail her with forever.
They quietly made their own coffee and sat down at the kitchen table where Anthony and my stuff had been. We moved ourselves to the living room and turned on the television to try and take the tension away. It only helped slightly because Ian couldn’t get over what happened.
“You should’ve seen your face Anthony!” He cracked up, “You’re just jealous of Nicolette’s skillage!”
“Are you kidding me?” Anthony whipped around to face them, “Tailynn can blow your mind with HER ‘skillage’, you don’t even know what sensation you get when she touches you…and you never will!” he added, making sure Ian didn’t ask me for sexual favors.
“Can we just get over this now?” Nico mumbled and sipped her coffee.
“I agree with her, just drop it you two there’s no use in fighting over who has the best ‘touch’.” I put air quotes around “touch”. For some reason I didn’t feel comfortable saying the proper term for it.
“I know!” Ian stuck his finger in the air as he got an idea, but Anthony shut him down.
“NO WE ARE NOT HAVING A CONTEST TO DECIDE WHO GIVES BETTER HAND JOBS OKAY?!” He yelled at him.
“OKAY WE’RE FINISHED HERE!!!!” I exclaimed, “If you two don’t shut up already I’m gonna kick you out!”
“Okay, okay geez…” Ian rolled his eyes. I stuck my tongue out at him and he did the same back to me.
“Now really, when do you guys have to get ready to leave?” I directed my question at Anthony.
“I guess we should get going real soon…” he checked his watch before putting his arm around me, “Yeah I’d say about thirty minutes to an hour.”
I wrapped my arms tightly around his torso, “I don’t want you to leave…” I whispered.
“I know…” he whispered back, resting his chin on my head.
“So what are you guys suppose to be filming for your Smosh vids? You gonna film in NY or just not bother with it?” I suddenly asked.
“We’ll probably stop our regular Smosh vids for 2 Fridays and just release videos of our time in NY instead. That way not only will our fans see what’s happenin’ but you can be reassured that we’re safe and stuff.” I laughed at his explanation.
“Okay.” I said and hugged him tighter.
I kind of felt bad when they announced to their fans last month that they weren’t releasing their multiple different weekly series, Ian is Bored, Lunchtime With Smosh and Charlie. They said they’d make them when they could but just couldn’t keep up with the schedule because of “personal reasons” aka Nicolette and I. I personally thought it was sweet, but the ten thousand viewers that unsubscribed from them on YouTube obviously didn’t. My argument was that they could deal with it; they’d been doing just regular Smosh videos for four years so why complain when all they did was take away a couple of meaningless series. Of course, if this was nine months ago, Nicolette would be just as angry as those fans.
Twenty minutes passed with all of us just chillin’ and trying to forget the incident. The television blared out our favorite cartoon “Adventure Time”. It was a marathon so I was bummed that they couldn’t stay all day to watch.
Finally Anthony checked his watch again and sighed.
“Guess we gotta start heading out back to Sacramento now.” He retreated his arm from around my shoulder but I continued to hold on.
“Nooooo!!!” I cried out.
“I’m sorry.” He softly kissed my begging lips.
Anthony walked over to the kitchen where he had left his sandy shoes. He put them on and stood by the table, waiting for Ian to get up.
Nico stood up and wrapped her arms around Ian’s neck. I heard her whisper something into his ear; that something made Ian gleam and he kissed her cheek. She blushed and turned to Anthony to give him a friendly goodbye hug.
I turned to Ian and hugged him.
“Make sure Anthony stays in line.” I joked.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let him pay for hookers or anything like that.” He made sure Nicolette didn’t hear. I laughed which caused her to look over but I just shook my head implying that he just made a joke.
After I separated from Ian I walked back to Anthony and took his cheeks in my hands, “I love you.” I said before kissing his sweet lips.
“I love you too.” He said after our lips detached.
Anthony and Ian slowly walked to the front door. I could tell they didn’t want to leave the comfort of our house but their excitement about New York was obviously more important that us. I understood though because I would be just as excited.
They opened the door and made their way out, waving and giving us one last smile. Anthony blew me a kiss before shutting the door behind them and leaving Nicolette and I alone in silence.
I tapped my foot in anxiety; I just couldn’t do it; I just couldn’t have him leave without sharing one more romantic moment together. I argued with myself in my head for what seemed like forever before I took a gulp and rushed to the door. I swung it open and bounded down the stairs, they couldn’t have gotten far.
When I got to the parking lot I saw Anthony making his way to his car. His hands were stuffed in his pockets but he took them out in surprise when I shouted his name.
I ran into his arms in one last hug. He picked me up and squeezed me tight, letting me know I would be okay without him. But that was the thing; I didn’t want to be without him. He set me down and told me to get back inside. I sadly obeyed and climbed the stairs back up to my apartment. I watched as their car drove off and sighed. How could I be able to live without him for two weeks? I just didn’t know.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 9

I woke up to someone touching my lips. I kind of liked the feeling so I kept my eyes closed; I knew they were Anthony’s lips and I knew he had a good reason for waking me but I didn’t want the pleasure to end. However I did accidentally start kissing back which caused Anthony to retreat and for me to open my eyes.
“Ugh, what time is it?” I mumbled as I sat up rubbing my eyes. I immediately hugged the blanket to my chest when I realized I was still naked underneath.
“About five in the morning.” Anthony whispered, “Get your clothes on; I checked and it’s not that cold out so anything will do.”
I tilted my head in confusion causing Anthony to explain, “We’re gonna take a walk to somewhere special, ok?” I smiled,
“Okay.” I didn’t mind standing up and getting off the couch in my birthday suit, in fact, I loved the attention that Anthony gave me with his hungry eyes as I carefully snuck into my bedroom to get a simple T-shirt and shorts.
I walked back into the living room to gather my underwear and start to get dressed. When I was finished, I looked back at Anthony who was near the door ready to leave.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Shhhhhh,” he put his finger to his lips, “It’s a surprise, now common.” He took my hand and led me out the door.
It was still dark outside but warm like Anthony had described. The sound of crickets had died down to a minimum of a couple of chirps a minute; the noise of morning birds dominated our ears instead. We trotted downstairs to the parking lot, I expected him to get inside his car so I separated our hands to walk over to it. He followed me and took my hand again,
“Where we’re going, we don’t need a car.” He said softly and continued to walk.
My mind circled around where he could be leading me. “Somewhere special” “it’s a surprise” I needed more than two subtle, lame hints. I was going to die of curiosity. Anthony took me to the streets behind my apartment complex. The roads were still empty except for some early morning joggers and a car or two. It made it easy for us to cross the usually loud, crowded street to another apartment complex. We crossed through the parking lot of that building and got to another lifeless street. By now I was sort of getting an idea about where he could be leading me. I just hoped it wasn’t much further away because I didn’t want Ian and Nicolette to get worried about where we were.
Finally after crossing another street, I saw it. I couldn’t believe I had been so stupid to not notice it before. It was the beach. I beamed from ear-to-ear as Anthony led me to the soft Californian sand. I sat down as soon as we got there to take off the converse and socks I had put on. Anthony followed my example as he kicked off his shoes and socks as well. We stuffed the socks into the shoes and left them in the middle of the beach; there was no one out at the time so we had no worries if someone were to take them.
I took Anthony’s hand again so he could help me stand up and we rushed into the receding ocean shoreline. The wet sand found its way in between my toes and I squished them together in delight. I looked over at Anthony who was smiling at me. His smile was bright and warming; he was the most perfect man I’d ever known.
We stood in the shoreline alone for a while, kicking the water and giggling before I decided it wouldn’t hurt if I waded in it. My shorts were pretty short so I didn’t mind getting my legs wet. Anthony watched as I jogged further into the water. The ocean was freezing cold but for some reason, today, I disregarded that fact and motioned Anthony to join me. He just stared at me, thinking of what to do. Finally he shrugged and bounded towards me; he picked me up in a hug and pretended to throw me in. I laughed, not caring if he did or not.
When he put me down I knelt down to splash him with the saltwater. Specks of water sprinkled on his shirt and he inhaled sharply in surprise. He laughed as he reached down and splashed me back, returning the favor. We spent a minute or two splashing away at each other, laughing and enjoying our last morning together.
Suddenly, in the middle of our splash fight, Anthony stopped and stared at the ocean behind me. I turned around to see the bright orange sun slowly creeping over the ocean. I stepped back so that I was standing next to Anthony. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me close as we watched the sun rise. It was a beautiful sight; and out of all the years I had lived in California, I had never seen a sunrise on the beach. I was more than delighted to have shared it with my one true love.
When the sun was a quarter of the way passed the brim of the ocean, Anthony turned to me and spoke for the first time since we had left.
“I love you more than anyone in my life,” he began, “nobody can take my love away from you. You are the only reason I breathe, the only reason my heart beats, the only reason I live; I live for you Taybe; for you only.” He smiled to prove he was sincere.
Tears rushed to my eyes, “Nobody’s ever said that to me before,” was all I could think of saying, “You are the most perfect person I’ve ever met and I don’t think anyone could love you as much as I do.” I made him smile even wider.
Our lips touched softly and I wrapped my arms around his neck, making our morning as perfect as possible. There was no way I could let him leave me for New York; I couldn’t bear to not see him for two weeks. We finally separated but our hands still touched and we walked back to where we left our shoes. By then, more joggers had showed up and were running along the shore where we had so passionately declared our love for each other.
I didn’t bother to put on my socks because my feet were dirty and wet so I just slipped on my converse, making sure I didn’t get the exterior dirty, but I didn’t bother to lace them up. Anthony had the same idea and stuffed his socks into his pockets.
We interlocked our fingers together again and made our way back to the apartment, passing a couple of love-sick teenagers who couldn’t have been over fifteen rush to the beach.
“I bet they have the same idea as you.” I laid my head on Anthony’s side as we continued to walk.
“If that boy is as smart as me then I think those two will last for a long time.” He kissed my head.
We walked slowly across the streets, this time it took a little longer to wait for the multiple cars to drive pass but we didn’t mind; we wanted to waste as much time outside as possible.
Finally I saw my apartment building and I began to drag my soggy converse.
“I don’t want you to leave.” I finally admitted, “Not now, not ever.”
“I’m sorry,” Anthony stopped in our tracks, “But I’ll only be gone for two weeks and I won’t ever leave you again. If I do leave, I’ll make sure to buy extra tickets and bring you with me.” He kissed my cheek and we slowly climbed the stairs to my front door.
Opening it up, no signs of Nicolette or Ian being awake were around. Again, it was just Anthony and I. I took off my shoes in the kitchen and grabbed some paper towels to wash my feet off. Anthony grabbed some more and once again followed my example. When we were finished I made a cup of tea for myself and one for Anthony. We sat at the kitchen table drinking tea and staring out of the big window back to the still-rising sun.
Anthony suddenly took my unoccupied hand and kissed it. Right then and there, I knew that even if today was one of the best days of my life, it would also be the worst.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 8

We mostly talked about sightseeing in New York which led into talk about other places they’d been and what they did there. I was surprised at where they’d been; Las Vegas, Hawaii, Chicago, Canada, and Anthony even went to France last summer!
“You guys are wayyyy cooler than me.” I laughed. I had moved from Anthony’s lap to the ground so I could face him. The TV was on but there wasn’t really any point because Ian had muted it. We were so involved in our conversation that I didn’t even realize what time it was until my phone started to play “Bad Romance”, it was Nicolette.
“Hey girl, I’m on my way back home, how are Anthony and Ian treatin ya?” I barely heard her voice through the wind from her top down convertible.
“Like shit, they beat me up and threw me out.” I giggled.
“Ha ha,” Nico said, “well like I said I’m comin back home so I’ll see you in a bit.”
“Kay bye, love ya.” I replied.
“Love ya too.”
“Who was that?” Ian asked. I knew he wanted it to be Nico.
“You’re mom.” I snickered, Anthony joined.
“Hardy har har.” Ian mocked us.
“It was Nicolette and she said she’s coming back in a little bit so you can just hold your horses and wait.” I told him.
“I don’t have horses, I’m from California…” Ian mumbled. I gave him a sarcastic confused look and he just smiled his cute smile.
“Hey, I have to use the bathroom, can you show me where it is?” Anthony stood up.
“You know where it is, don’t act like you’ve never been here before.” I gave a friendly scowl.
“Well geez, no need to be feisty.”
“Rawr.” I growled and he laughed.
“Damn that was sexy…” I heard him mutter as he walked down the hallway to the bathroom that was conjoined with my bedroom. I had a feeling he wanted me to follow him but I felt bad leaving Ian alone. I didn’t want to announce to him that I was going to make out with his best friend but I didn’t want to be suspicious and say that I had to suddenly go to the bathroom too.
“I’m gonna go out to the front door to see if Nico’s back yet.” I lied as I got up off the ground and walked to the door.
“Okay.” Was all Ian said as he grabbed the remote off the coffee table and unmuted the TV.
I opened the door for five seconds, making him think I had left before shutting it again. I snuck down the hallway to my bedroom but saw nobody in my bed. I crept to the bathroom and saw the door to the toilet closed. After a couple of seconds, the toilet flushed and the door opened. Anthony walked out zipping up his fly.
“Oh hey what are you doing in here?” he exclaimed.
“Shhhhhh, I don’t want Ian knowing I’m in here, he thinks I’m outside waiting for Nico.” I giggled. I took his soft hands after he washed them and led him to the bed.
We sat down and just looked at each other; just stared at each other until I couldn’t take it anymore. I practically leapt into his arms; running my hands through his brown silky hair as our lips smacked and our tongues collided with each other. Anthony lay down and I strattled him, lips still intertwined, flavor still there, passion still alive. His breathing got heavier as he massaged my breasts. I took his hands and led them downward to the brim of my shirt, indicating for him to take it off. Not only did he just take it off, he nearly ripped it off which kinda bothered me since it was a customized shirt. However I was in my god damn bra, just waiting for him to unhook it and make me feel like I was the only girl in the world; like I was the only girl he wanted to hold and love and be with forever.
We rolled over so that Anthony was on top of me; I slipped off his tight shirt and ran my hands across his chest; he moaned and we flipped back over. He wrapped his arms around to my back to finally surrender to my needs. He had just unhooked it when we heard a tap on the door.
Ian and Nicolette cluttered the doorway, staring at our half naked bodies. My bra was hanging on to dear life on my shoulders. I was frozen on top of Anthony until Anthony realized that my boobs were practically hanging out. He quickly grabbed his shirt and covered me up with it.
“Get outta here!” Anthony shooed them away but they remained standing there, almost laughing about the whole situation.
They left us to get dressed since our moods had been chilled; I was disappointed that those two always had to ruin everything that happened between Anthony and I.
After getting dressed; we went back into the living room.
“You lied to me; you said you went outside, how did you come back in without me noticing?” I couldn’t tell if Ian was being serious or not.
“Oh uh…I never really did go outside,” I scratched the back of my neck, “I’ve been here the entire time.”
“Oh. Well in that case; that’s fine.” I didn’t understand what Ian was trying to get at whatsoever.
“Hey Nicolette!” Anthony greeted Nico who was sitting next to Ian on the couch. She stood up and they hugged.
“You gave me quite a greeting just a couple of minutes ago,” Nicolette laughed, “but nice to see you anyway.”
“So are we gonna get some popcorn and watch a movie or are we just gonna sit here all night in awkwardness?” Ian sighed.
“I’ll make the popcorn…” I groaned as I dragged myself to the kitchen.
I made two bowls of popcorn and got them to the gang just as Nicolette was putting in a scary movie.
“I love scary movies.” I said after I put the two bowls of popcorn into Anthony and Ian laps.
Ian rubbed his hands together, “me too.”
Nico pushed play and our horror night began!

We actually watched two scary movies and by the time they were both over, my whole body was practically back on top of Anthony. I moved back onto the couch as Nicolette turned on the lights and checked the time.
“Holy camole! It’s midnight!” I exclaimed.
Anthony laughed, “Guess that means we’re gonna have to stay the night.” He winked at me.
“I call the bed.” Ian grunted as he tried to stand up. Nicolette helped him and handed him his crutches. “I’ll see you two in the morning.” He said and the couple closed themselves into the bedroom.
“Guess that leaves you and I here. Alone. On the couch.” I indicated we should try our romantic night again before bed.
“Guess it does.” Anthony smiled and leaned in to kiss me.
This time; we had no interruptions, no fear, and no boundries; we made each other clear we loved one another.
As we lay on the couch, bare naked under the blankets I had grabbed before, I turned back around to kiss Anthony’s sleeping lips.
“I love you.” I whispered.
He smiled, making me realize he really wasn’t sleeping and whispered back, “You have no idea how much I love you.”

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 7

The rest of the day was boring as hell; so I decided to go to bed extra early, hoping that I’d make tomorrow come faster. Unfortunately, I woke up at six in the morning and couldn’t get back to sleep. I roamed the apartment in my pajamas, made myself tea and sat at the kitchen table that faced the giant window outside. I spent the rest of the morning drinking my tea and catching up on news from the three different magazines I had missed out on since we were gone at the hospital. Eventually I stood up to watch the sun rise from my balcony and sighed, wishing Anthony was behind me kissing my ear and making me giggle.
When I turned around to go back inside the apartment, Nicolette was in the kitchen making herself coffee in her silk robe. I didn’t bother to say good morning because I knew mornings were never her thing especially on the week days.
“So how’s work going?” Nico suddenly brought up.
“Fine. I’m starting Chapter 16, it’s already 215 pages long, I’m trying to think of a way to end it though, I don’t wanna bore my readers.” I sat back down at the table.
“Hey, I’m one of your readers and I never get bored of your stories.” She joined me.
“Thanks,” I smiled, “well how about you? Don’t you have to work today?” I took the last sip of my tea.
“Yeah but hopefully I’ll be back in time to see Ian and Anthony before they leave.” Nicolette worked at a local book store where I knew she’d try her best to promote and sell my books.
I squinted to look at the time on the microwave behind Nicolette; it read 8:00.
“Well I guess we better get dressed and you should get to work.” I grunted as I stood up to go put my mug in the kitchen sink.
“Right.” Nicolette chugged the rest of her coffee before putting her mug into the sink and following me into our room.
I changed into something I thought Anthony would love; a custom Smosh Jersey that he made me for Valentine’s Day that said “Smosh” on the front and “Anthony’s Sweetheart” with the numbers 143 on the back. I went through my drawers to find the nicest pair of skinny jeans I had. I went into the bathroom and separated my short hair into two parts and put them into pig tails; I had to admit I looked cute.
I walked back into the living room and waved goodbye to Nicolette who had made a speedy change and was already on her way out the door in her “Bookenstein” uniform. For now, all I had to do was tidy up our apartment then wait. Wait for my last date with Anthony.

I ended up cleaning the apartment pretty darn well, I picked up all our clothes in the bedroom, cleaned and put away all our dishes, organized the magazines and books on our coffee table and even swept the kitchen floor. I was in the refrigerator getting myself a bottle of water when I heard a faint ringing coming from our bedroom. It was once again, “Firetruck” so I knew it was Anthony.
“Hellllooo?” I jokingly answered.
“Hey sweetheart, how are you?” His voice always made my heart jump.
“Excited for you two to come down here!” I grinned widely.
“No way! I’m excited to go down there!”
“That’s what she said!” I automatically blurted out. Anthony laughed so hard I swore he was crying. His laugh made me melt into the ground; he was so damn cute.
“Well I just wanted to call and tell you that we’re on our way now so we’ll be there in roughly an hour and a half to two hours, is that okay?” he explained to me after he had stopped laughing.
“Yeah that’s great; Nicolette’s not even here, she’s at work right now. She’ll be here later this evening to say goodbye.” I clarified to him.
“Okay sweet; I’ll see you then! I loooove youu!!!” He laughed.
“I loooove youu tooo!” I giggled and we hung up.
I’d love to say that those two hours passed by fast but they really didn’t. I literally sat on my couch and watched TV until my phone played a different tune, “Milky Milkshake”.
“Heyy Ian.” I answered in a dull voice.
“Well hello to you too Debbie downer.” Ian snickered.
“I’m waiting for you guys to show up, I’ve been watching TV for two god damn hours!” I tried to explain my irritation.
“You’re waiting is over missy, we’re at your door now!” I heard a knock at the front door.
“Well gee, I wonder who that must be!” I said sarcastically as I stood up and looked through the eye piece. Sure enough, Ian was standing on my doormat, crutches under his arm. Anthony’s hand was holding Ian’s phone up to his ear so he could walk and talk at the same time. I laughed at the sight before hanging up my phone and opening the door.
“TAILYNN!!!!!!” Ian shouted before nearly trampling me in a giant hug.
“IAN!!!!!” I screamed back and laughed. I looked over his shoulder to see Anthony in the doorway laughing with me.
Ian stepped back and regained his balance; I welcomed the guys into my small apartment and offered a place for Ian to sit. He set his crutches on the side of the couch before sitting down. Anthony sat in the matching chair that was placed diagonal from the couch. He patted his lap indicating for me to sit on him. I plopped down onto his lap and smiled as he wrapped his tight arms around my waist.
“I love your shirt.” He chuckled.
“I had a feeling you would.” I turned around to intertwine my lips with his.
“Well this is very cute and all but where’s my girlfriend?” Ian caused our mini make out session to end.
“You didn’t tell him?” I muttered to Anthony.
“She’s at work doofus.” Anthony spoke up.
“When is she coming back?”
I checked my phone for the time, “About three hours.” I said.
“Aww damn!” Ian snapped his fingers and laid back into the couch, “what are we gonna do for three hours?”
“I dunno; talk, watch a movie, eat, something along the lines of that, what do ya think?” I directed my question at Anthony.
“I think that’s perfect.” He smiled at me and even though we’d been dating for nine months, he still gave me butterflies.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 6

“Son of a bitch!!!!” I screamed and threw my phone across the room. It hit the wall and exploded into three pieces.
“Woah, woah, woahhh Tay what’s going on?!” Nico took my shaking hands and looked into my eyes.
“A-Anthony said that h-he just got a phone call fr-from people in Ne-New York and said th-that they’re leaving in three days f-for two weeks!” I tried to explain through sobs.
“They? You mean Ian is going with him even though he just hurt himself?” Nico always understood my part of the story.
“Exactly! Anthony won’t listen to me.” I wiped a tear that had dripped passed my mouth and onto my chin.
“Why don’t you go get dressed, and I’ll call Ian to talk to him, okay?” she helped me stand up and led me to our room. On the way there, I picked up the three parts of my phone. The back had popped off and the battery had flown out.
When she left me to change out of my towel and into my clothes I went into the conjoined bathroom to apply my makeup and dry my hair. I made sure I didn’t take long so that I could hear what Nico would dish out to Ian. After I was finished, I snuck into the hallway until I could hear Nicolette in the kitchen.
“I just don’t want you to get hurt again!” Was the first thing I heard, “Dammit Ian, listen to me! I don’t think this is such a great idea!............No, I’m not trying to be your mother, your mother doesn’t even know about this, just you wait until I tell her myself!” I bit my lip trying not to laugh, Nico was doing great; I just hoped Ian would listen to her.
I saw Nicolette pace across to the living room and back to the kitchen. Her left hand was placed on her hip and she had pulled her hair up into a tight ponytail; that was her battle stance.
“Well then don’t go! That’s what I’m trying to tell you!.....oh and tell Anthony that even though he’s my best friend; I will break his arm if he hurts Tailynn again….okay……….okay I love you too. Bye.” I giggled but understood where she was coming from; even though they were fighting they still loved each other and the same applied for Anthony and I.
I came out from the hallway and saw Nicolette sitting on the kitchen counter.
“Hey.” I scratched the back of my neck.
“Hey.” She replied, swinging her legs back and forth.
“I sorta heard what you were saying to Ian.” I leaned my good arm against the wall.
“Yeah, I have a feeling they’re not gonna listen to us and go anyway…” she trailed on.
“Me too.” I thought about calling Anthony and apologizing; I couldn’t stand knowing he was mad at me. “I’ll be right back.” I said and went into our room to have some privacy.
Finding Anthony in my contacts wasn’t a hassle since he was the second name from the top. I hesitated to push the “call” button, fearing that he’d hang up on me again. Finally I shut my eyes and quickly pushed the button. I held my phone up to my ear to ear it ring once, twice, three times, four times, I was beginning to think he didn’t want to talk to me. I was just about to hang up before the ringing stopped and shuffling took it’s place.
“He-hello?” I cleared my throat, trying to make my voice sound more confident.
“Taybe?” Anthony’s sweet voice serenaded my ears. I held in more tears, just knowing he still loved me enough to call me that lame nickname.
“Anthony, I’m sorry about what happened over the phone, I think I just over reacted is all.” I said but doubted myself; was I really sorry? Or did I just want him to forgive me?
“It’s okay baby, I know how you must feel, and after Nicolette called Ian…” I held my breath, hoping Anthony still liked her even when she was protecting her best friend, “I just hope she doesn’t break my arm.” He snickered and I couldn’t help but laugh with him.
“No, I don’t think she will, as long as you don’t piss her off even more.”
“Well, we’re still debating on whether we should go or not, but Tay, I’m pretty sure we’re going. We can come see you guys before we leave if you want.”
I smiled, “Yeah that would be great. How about tomorrow?” I offered a reasonable time.
“Tomorrow seems best.”
“Okay, we’ll see you then. And I’ll make sure Nicolette doesn’t break your arm.” I added.
He laughed, “Okay, sounds good. Bye Taybe, I love you.”
“I love you more.” I grinned. This time I was the one that hung up first.
“Was that Anthony?” Nico startled me from the doorway.
“Um…yeah…he said they could come visit us tomorrow before they get too busy packing and leaving.” I bit my lip, praying Nico wouldn’t explode.
“Uh, okay…” she scrunched her eyebrows at me.
“I can’t stand him being mad at me, the least they can do if they’re leaving is visit us.” I tried to make a fair argument.
“Alright Tay, but if he hurts you while he’s away I’m gonna-”
“Yeah I know Nico, you’re gonna break his arm.” I let out a breath of sarcasm.
“You know me too well.” She winked at me before leaving me alone in our room.

Sorry this part was so short and boring but it'll get more exciting soon :D

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 5

The next morning; Ian was set free. At least, that’s what he called it. The doctor gave him crutches and taught him how to use them.
“Is there a place I can go that will teach me how to use Karate with these things?” Ian asked the doctor; all the doctor did was give him a stern look and a firm answer, “No.”
“Damn.” Ian muttered under his breath.
He stumbled through the hallways of the hospital as we followed behind him, making sure he didn’t fall or run into anything. Fortunately he got the just of it by the time we got to the first floor although I could tell that Anthony would have a ton of fun helping Ian out for the next couple months.
When we got to the parking lot of the hospital, we helped Ian into the backseat of Anthony’s car. Lauren gave Nico and I a hug before hopping into the front seat. I gave Anthony a hug and smooch before negotiating when we’d be seeing each other again.
“I’m not sure; we’ll have to check our schedule now that things have been fucked thanks to Ian’s clever idea of breaking himself.” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“Well just call me and we’ll figure things out.” I replied before kissing him again.
I turned to the backseat window and waved to Ian. He waved back and gave me a thumbs up. Anthony circled around the back of the car to get into the front seat. Nico and I started walking to our car when their car passed us. We waved again and they drove off.

Driving back home was different than when we were worried driving to the hospital. Nicolette’s spirit was high as she kept on reminding me what had happened in his room.
“That block you did when McKenna tried to hit me, damn Tay that was amazing!” I nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, except for the fact that she practically broke my fuckin’ arm.” I had had a nurse check my arm and she put it in a temporary sling.
“You know I heard Lauren say that Ian could wake up to his true love; as cheesy as it sounded I decided I might as well try it so when I did and it actually worked, I didn’t know what to think.” She suddenly became serious.
“I’m glad you and Ian are together again.” I said sincerely.
“Thanks girl.” Nico smiled at me.
Home felt weird; we hadn’t been home for two days. We hadn’t changed out of our clothes or taken a shower or eaten real food in two days. When Nico opened the door I flew in and scurried to the bathroom.
“I’m taking a shower!!!!” I announced as I shut the door.
“I’m eating food!!!” I heard Nico yell through the door.
I took the best shower I have ever taken in my life; the only way it could be better was if Anthony was here washing my back. However the shower I took without him was nice and refreshing; as if I was washing all of the hospital junk off of me.
I came out of the shower with my towel on, and went to the kitchen to grab something normal to eat. Nicolette was sitting on the couch watching a repeat of Grey’s Anatomy when I sat next to her.
“I’m bored.” She said, not bothering to look at me.
“Wow. Me too.” I noticed how lame our day had just gotten.
My phone was on the glass coffee table when it began to buzz uncontrollably to “Firetruck”.
“Hey Anthony.” I said in a bored tone.
“Guess what?!” Anthony practically deafened me.
“Um…what?” I dared to ask.
“Remember like two weeks ago when I signed up to win a trip to New York for that film festival?”
“Of course.”
“I just got a call from the people running it and they said that they’d love to have Smosh come down for a special presentation!!!” It sounded like he was going to pass out from excitement.
“No way! That’s awesome!”
Nico looked at me and mouthed “What’s going on?” I held up my first finger indicating for her to wait until I was finished.
“I know! Only bad part…” my body got tense as he explained, “The film festival starts on April 18th and goes until April 22nd.”
“Anthony, I’ve dealt with not seeing you for a week.” I sighed in relief.
“Yeah but…they want us to go there a week in advance to practice and stuff. We leave on Sunday.” My heart sank.
“I can’t…we…we can’t come with you two?” I held in tears. I didn’t know if I could handle not seeing him for two whole weeks.
“I’m sorry.” Was his answer.
“Well I would’ve stayed longer with you guys if I had known you were leaving in three days! And what about Ian?”
“What about Ian?”
“He kinda just got out of the hospital, you’re going to drag him all the way to New York for a film fest?”
“I talked to him about it; he said it was fine so we’re going! I thought you were going to be happy for us Tailynn!” His tone started to irritate me.
“I am happy for you guys but the downers to the situation really suck!” I tried to keep it together; I didn’t want him to hear me cry.
Anthony was quiet. So quiet I didn’t even know if he was there anymore.
“Anthony?” I called out his name.
“Why don’t you call me when you’re sincere about what you’re saying, okay?” were his last words before he hung up.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 4

“I told you!” Lauren hissed.
“Shhhhhhhhh!!!!” I hushed her.
“Ian?” We heard Nico say.
“Nico….I….I love you too.” Ian’s voice was raspy and sore.
Just then somebody behind us burst through the door.
“What the hell do you mean you love her?” McKenna had food in her hands, most likely for Ian. Another blonde haired girl followed her in. She was carrying drinks.
“Who the fuck are you?” My anger started to rise as I addressed the other girl.
“Bitch please; I’m Ashleigh, McKenna’s best friend.” She raised her unoccupied hand to me in a “stop” motion.
“What did you just call me?” I tried to sprint towards her to teach her prissy ass a lesson but somebody had taken my arms and wouldn’t let me go.
“Let me go!” I turned around, realizing I was talking to Anthony. All he did was smile at me; for some reason that calmed me down. “Thanks.” I stopped wrestling with him and he let me go.
“McKenna? Ash?” Ian lifted his head off the bed but groaned in pain. I heard Nicolette softly shush him. I walked further into the room to see her kiss his temple.
“You!” McKenna threw her food onto the bed next to Ian’s to point to Nico, “You stole my boyfriend!” she charged up to Nicolette but I was swifter. I ran in between Nico and Ian and McKenna to shield my best friends.
“Don’t you even dare or I’ll call security and get your ass thrown out.” I said as calmly as I could.
“That bitch thinks she can just walk in on a special relationship that’s been going on strong for three years; I don’t think so, not in my lifetime!!!” I saw McKenna’s hand clench into a fist in the corner of my eye and got ready to block.
“Hey McKenna; don’t do this….” Ian’s raspy voice tickled our ears.
“Shut up Ian, we’re over!” McKenna took a swing to my face but I held up my forearm and she hit that instead. I took the fist she used to try and hit me and twisted it around to her back. Even though she was five inches taller than me, I was guessing she didn’t take Karate lessons like I used to.
Ashleigh shrieked which caused about six nurses to instantly flood into the room. I let go of McKenna in an instant, luckily the nurses had all their attention focused on Ian to notice what had happened. I turned to look at Lauren and Anthony; their eyes were widened, shocked at what McKenna had tried to do.
I turned to McKenna and Ashleigh, “Get outta here.” I growled at them. They obeyed and grabbed their food to leave.
The nurses had surrounded Ian and were taking his blood pressure, heart beat and switching out his IV all at the same time. When they finally left, the room was silent.
“I….I didn’t like her much anyway.” Ian broke the silence and we all cracked up. To my surprise, Ian looked happy; as if he had been freed.
Lauren, Anthony and I all sat down in the seats at the end of the bed, happy to see Ian’s eyes opened. He looked much better than he did yesterday; I was happy to hear him cracking jokes about even the most serious situation.
Lauren reached over and touched my arm; I winced. It was the arm I had used to prevent McKenna from pounding my face in. I rolled up my sleeve and took a quick glimpse at it. The skin between my wrist and elbow was raised and was starting to turn purple/blue. I groaned; like I needed this right now. Lauren saw my arm and offered to get me ice.
“Yeah, that’d be great; thanks hun.” I smiled at her as she got up to ask nurses for an icepack.
I leaned my head against Anthony’s shoulder and felt his lips touch the top of my head.
“Did…did McKenna do that…to you?” Ian noticed I was in pain.
“Um…yeah she did; but I’m fine, I’d rather have it be my arm than mine or Nico’s face.” I chuckled and he followed.
“True.” He coughed. Nicolette was still holding his hand but she looked at me, “Thanks.” She said.
“No problem sweetie.” I smiled at her.

Ian’s state of health progressed steadily throughout the rest of the day and by the same time he had gone into the hospital the day before, he was now sitting up, eating, and laughing with us. The doctor said that he could stay one more night and would be healthy enough to go home tomorrow. He also explained to us that Ian had great friends and actually backed up Lauren’s theory on love healing wounds.
It was our last night at the hospital when Ian got the urge to drink more energy drinks.
“Hell no man,” Anthony spoke first, “there is no way I’m ever letting you have another energy drink for the rest of your life.”
“Okay mom.” Ian joked.
“Speaking of your mom,” Lauren said, “when are you going to tell your mom about this?”
“I love my mom,” Ian started to say, “but when I get hurt, she never EVER leaves until I’m healed.” He motioned to his knee, “this thing won’t heal for another couple months. Do you want my mom to live with us for months?” He asked Anthony.
He frantically shook his head, “No, I don’t.” We all laughed.
I looked around the room at my laughing friends and knew that I wouldn’t have it any other way. These guys weren’t just my friends; they were my family.

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 3

Inside, the air was cold and stiff. We turned a corner and saw Anthony sitting in a small chair at the edge of the bed. His head was down; he must’ve been sleeping. Next to him was a familiar girl I had seen before but couldn’t exactly remember where. Her hair was long and dark and she was leaned up against Anthony’s shoulder, also in a deep sleep.
We tip-toed inside, carefully shutting the door behind us; as we continued to walk into the room, we saw a familiar blonde haired girl sitting next to Ian’s bed. She was sitting upright, mumbling something to him when Nico accidentally tapped the wall with her keys. McKenna stopped talking and looked at us. Anthony had slowly woken up. He looked at me, I smiled.
“Tailynn? Nicolette?” He said as if we could’ve been part of his dream. The girl next to him stirred but didn’t wake.
“What are you two doing here?” McKenna rudely snapped at us.
“We’re his other best friends, idiot.” Nico mumbled the insult under her breath. Luckily, McKenna hadn’t heard.
Anthony carefully stood up, making sure the girl was still sleeping and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. I fit perfectly into his arms. I could feel his spirit rise as I told him everything would be okay.
As we separated I turned to look at Ian. His leg was in a full cast that reached up to his thigh. It was elevated by a sling connected to the ceiling. His eyes were closed; he had a bandage wrapped around his forehead and a cut above his left eye. He looked so helpless, so broken.
Nico had walked to the other side of the bed and took his left hand.
“Hey Ian.” She whispered.
I saw McKenna glare at her from the other side of the bed. My hand turned into a fist, there was no way I was gonna let her get away with being a bitch in Ian’s time of need. Nicolette was his friend too, McKenna needed to understand that.
I turned to Anthony, “So where’s Ian’s mom and dad?” I asked.
“We haven’t told them yet…we don’t want to alarm them, I think we’ll have Ian call them when he wakes up.”
“If he wakes up…” I wanted to say but held it in; I didn’t want to discourage Anthony.
I took Anthony’s hand and led him to where he had been sitting before. When I came closer to the girl I finally realized who it was, it was their next door neighbor, Lauren!
“You drove all the way over here?” Anthony finally said.
“Of course.” I took my eyes away from Lauren to smile at him.
“You two are the best friends a guy could have.” He kissed me and looked at Nico to see if she had heard him. Instead, her head was lying on Ian’s arm; we heard her softly say words like “Lord” and “Please”. I was honestly surprised that she was praying; even though she was catholic and her parents had shoved religion down her throat when she was younger, I had only heard her pray freely about five times in the time I’d known her, which was about thirteen years.
I glanced at McKenna again; her eyes bit Nicolette in the throat, which was something I was about to do to McKenna if she didn’t cut it out.
“Hey McKenna, can you turn on the TV for us please?” I decided to get her to do something else besides look at Nico. Her stare quickly turned to me but she didn’t say anything. She stood up and reached her long arms up to turn on the TV.
“Remote?” I smirked at her.
She paused for a moment before taking the remote from the bedside and handing it to me.
“Thanks hun.” I said as I turned the channel.
The rest of the night was boring. All I did was sit at the end of the bed and watch TV. Eventually it got late enough to that nothing was on TV except Girls Gone Wild commercials and weird British people talking about how animals reproduce.
None of it mattered anyway because almost everyone else was asleep. My eyes began to droop slowly until I felt my head land on Anthony’s shoulder.

When I woke up, light shone in from the large window on the far side of the room. I looked around and saw that nobody had moved from the night before except for Lauren who wasn’t in the room anymore. Anthony was still next to me, still asleep. McKenna was still on the right side of Ian’s bed, her head lay on the covers; her blonde bun messily hung up on top of her head. And Nicolette; that girl still had feelings for Ian even though she had denied it so many times after the break up. Her head lay on the left side of Ian’s body; it was actually a pretty funny site to see, Ian looked like a dead pimp. I giggled to myself which startled Anthony. His head rose up and he rubbed his eyes to take a look around.
“Wow, nobody’s moved…” he said, “wait, where’s Lauren?”
“I’m not sure but look at Ian, he looks like a pimp.” I giggled again. Anthony stared at him until he realized that Ian had two women at his side; he laughed his sweet laugh. He took out his phone camera and snapped two pictures, still laughing.
I stood up and stretched when the door slowly opened; it was Lauren tried to sneak back in. When she saw that I was awake she rushed over to me and gave me a giant hug.
“Oh my gosh Tailynn it’s been forever!” She exclaimed as she squeezed me.
“I know!” Was all I could think of saying as I hugged her back.
We separated and fell into silence. I looked at the two girls sleeping next to Ian and said,
“I hope he gets better soon, I can’t bear to see him like this.”
“I heard that the only way some people can be woken up from a coma, is that their true love speaks to them; they hear their voice and wake up to be with them.” Lauren suddenly commented.
“What do you mean like Sleeping Beauty?” I chuckled.
“Pretty much..” she said casually.
“That’s great…” my stomach rumbled, “I think I’m gonna go down to the cafeteria really quick to grab something to eat, anybody care to join me?”
“Yeah, I’m down.” Anthony replied. I looked at Lauren and she nodded. “You think it’s okay if we leave these two alone with Ian?” I muttered.
“Yeah they’re just sleeping.” I could tell Anthony was hungry and just wanted to eat.
“Okay, let’s get outta here.” We snuck out the door and into the halls of the hospital.

We ate our food quickly in the cafeteria before making our way back to Ian’s room. When we got back upstairs to Ian’s floor; we heard a female voice coming from inside. It was Nicolette.
We peered into the small window just to see the end of Ian’s bed and the side of Nico’s body. We pressed our ears up to the door.
“-and I think that maybe one day we could be together again. I mean together as in how we were nine months ago. Ian, I’m tired of being your friend and I forgive you for cheating with me. If only you could see how much I really loved you, how much I care about you more than McKenna then you’d know that we’re meant to be. McKenna doesn’t know shit about you, she just loves you because you’re famous because you give her what she wants, I love you because of your smile…your laugh…the way you laugh at your own jokes. I miss you Ian. I…I love you.” Suddenly, we heard a different voice.
“Nico…Nicolette? Is that…is that…you?” It was Ian!!!!

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 2

“Wha-“ I was about to ask but the phone hung up.
“Nico, grab your shoes, purse and jacket, we’re going to Sacramento!!!” I yelled as I stood up and grabbed my coat.
“Why?” Nico came back out of her room and looked at me from the hallway.
“Ian just hurt himself real bad so we need to go now.” I scurried to the kitchen counter to get Nico’s car keys. I heard Nicolette slide on the tile floor rushing to get her shoes and jacket. I grabbed her purse from the back of one of our kitchen chairs and threw it at her. She caught it and ran out the door, arms still outstretched to get her coat on. I snatched my phone from the table and followed her out.
We flew down the apartment building stairs and into the purple convertible. I checked the time as soon as Nico started the car; the digitalized clock read 5:20 PM, the setting sun confirmed it. Nicolette backed up into a trash can but she didn’t bother to stop to get out and pick it up. Instead, she put the car in forward and we sped out of our neighborhood.
When we got out to the highway, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.
“Hello?” I frantically answered it.
“Hey Taybe, how are you?” Anthony seemed calm.
“Me? Um, no, how’s Ian?” Nicolette looked at me when I said his name.
“Oh Ian?” I could make out some sarcasm, “well…he kinda hasn’t woken up yet. Doctors said he hit his head pretty hard; makes sense since I saw him hit our wall with force…” we sat in silence for a minute, “I shouldn’t have let him drink those Redbulls…” I heard him whisper.
“Oh baby, I think he’ll be okay.” I tried to reassure him.
“It’s all my fault.” He said in an even softer tone.
“Don’t say that, it’s not your fault, you hear me?”
Anthony paused for a moment before responding, “I hear you.”
“What hospital are you guys at?” I suddenly asked.
“St. Rosalyn’s. Why?”
“Just in case is all…” I decided to make our visit a surprise.
“Okay.” He muttered.
“Well I’m gonna get going now, call me if anything happens.”
“Okay.” He repeated.
“I love you.”
“I love you too. Bye.” Anthony hung up.
“What happened to Ian?” I realized I hadn’t explained anything to Nico.
“I was talking to Anthony on the phone when I heard a huge thump and then Anthony said that he’d had too many energy drinks and we was bouncing off the walls and fell off a chair and hit his head. Anthony said he hasn’t exactly woken up yet…” I rubbed my head.
“Oh my God…” Nico’s pink glossy lips had opened in shock.
“Yeah, we need to hurry, Anthony’s pretty upset, and he’s blaming the whole thing on himself.” I leaned my elbow against the car door and placed my forehead in my hands.
It took longer than usual to get to Sacramento; traffic had clogged the highway, which made me feel even more terrible for not being there for Ian and Anthony when they needed me.
Finally the sign for Sacramento passed us and Nico turned onto the exit; I glanced at the clock; it read 7:45 PM. We drove passed a ton of buildings until the sign for St. Rosalyn’s Hospital appeared on my side of the road.
“Turn here.” I pointed to the parking lot and Nicolette obeyed. I could tell how worried she was by how quiet she was; it was unusual for her to be so quiet especially with me.
We found a parking spot not so close to the entrance but agreed to sprint to the front. By the time we got to the entrance, we were breathing heavily.
“Damn we need to work out more often.” I laughed.
“You’re right.” Nico chuckled as she bent over, placing her hands on her knees to take deep breaths.
After our ten second break, we made our way into the hospital.
“We need a room number for Ian Hecox.” I huffed and puffed to the receptionist at the front desk.
“May I ask why you’re here?” She said without even looking at me.
“Um, Ian is my close friend, and he hurt himself pretty bad so we’re here to visit him, can you just give us his room number please?” I tried to ask without sounding too annoyed.
“Sorry, only family members are allowed in at this time.”
“I’m Ian’s girlfriend.” Nicolette stepped up behind me.
“That’s weird, ‘cause a blonde girl here said she was his girlfriend…” the lady finally looked up at us.
“That cheating bastard.” Nico said in mono-tone, “I want to see him anyway so I can break up with him for good.”
“Okay, fine go ahead. He’s room number 213.” The lady mumbled.
“Thank you.” Nico took my hand and we walked down the hallway to the elevators.
“Wow, nice acting.” I said sarcastically.
“Whatever, she bought it now didn’t she? Besides, I’m tired of being nice, I just want to see my friend.” I nodded in agreement as the elevator doors opened.
We walked in and were joined by a woman and a little boy. We rode the elevator up to level two, but the woman and boy didn’t get out. I politely smiled at them as we got off. We turned a corner to face a long white hallway doors at both sides. I hated hospitals.
We trotted down the hallway, peering at the door numbers until we got to the 200’s.
“206, 208, 210…” I started to say to myself.
“207, 209, 211, 213!” Nicolette got my attention. The brown door was heavy as we tried to open it. But as soon as we did, we knew this was going to be pretty emotional for us.

This girl reminds me of what Tailynn could look like:

This girl reminds me of what Nicolette could look like:

So yeah, I hope you liked this little extra special feature :) Stay tuned for the next part in my story!!!

Live, Laugh, Learn, Love- Part 1

“Hey Nicolette, come check out this video!” I called my best friend over to our computer; the same computer that had led us to Smosh’s house over eight months ago.
“Ugh, is this another one of those videos about you and Anthony?” She groaned as she made her way towards the desk.
“Yes but this time this one is nice.” I clicked play and a slideshow of leaked pictures of Anthony and I scrolled by to piano music. At the end, credits scrolled up the screen and mentioned how happy the creator was that I made Anthony happy. I smiled and exited out of YouTube.
“So, what’d you think?”
“It was cute, can I go now?” She turned to go back to her room.
“Yeah…” I trailed off, noticing I had a new email from an unknown sender.
I opened up the email; scanning it over I saw words in capital letters, tons of exclamation points and curse words. Another hate message; it read,
“Tailynn, you are a STUPID BITCH!!!! I cannot believe Anthony still likes you; I can’t believe he liked you AT ALL!!!! You’re ugly, and a fucking disgrace towards the Smosh name, get out of their lives NOBODY WANTS YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I swear if I see you in another slideshow or Smosh video, I will find you and CUT YOUR GOD DAMN THROAT!!!!!!!” This wasn’t the first jealous email I had gotten; actually it was only one out of about ten. The email continued with reasons why Anthony and I shouldn’t be together and how ugly I was but I really didn’t care because I knew the majority of Smosh’s fans liked the fact that Anthony was happy, that’s why I watch those nice YouTube videos.
I decided it would be funny if I wrote back to the hater. I opened a new message and began to write,
“Hey kind stranger, thank you for the lovely email, I’m sure Anthony would love to see how much you care about his girlfriend. And by the way, he doesn’t still like me; he LOVES me, so suck on that, BITCH. You must have absolutely NO life if you spend all your time writing hate messages to me; seriously do the world a favor and spend your time more wisely by crying me a river, building a bridge and jumping off of it. Thanks doll, Tailynn” I giggled as I pressed “SEND”.
“What are you giggling about?” Nicolette came back out of her room and leaned over my shoulder to catch a glimpse of the screen.
“Some idiot sent me another hate email but I sent them something back. I believe they won’t be talking shit about me anymore, well at least to my virtual face.”
Nicolette laughed, “People like that need a life.”
“Oh whatever, you’d be exactly like this eight months ago if some girl dated Anthony.” I twisted my neck around to look at her.
“Exactly; I got a life after we met them and Ian showed me who he really was.” She crossed her arms.
“Nico, that happened a long ass time ago, I thought you got over it.” I rolled my eyes and turned back to the computer screen.
“Well, he just made me realize some things is all.” I heard her trail back into her room and shut the door.
Suddenly, my phone started to play the beginning of “Firetruck”. It was Anthony,
“Hey hon.” I answered it.
“Hey Taybe.” He replied with his nickname he had given to me months before. He thought it was clever because sometimes I call him baby and Taybe happened to rhyme.
“What’s goin on?” I asked him, twirling my hair in between my fingers.
“Just thinkin’ about you…” his voice faded and I heard a different voice, probably Ian’s, say something. “Ian says hi.” Anthony finally said after the voice in the back stopped talking.
“He can tell me hi himself if he wants to.” I chuckled.
“HEY IAN!!!” Anthony practically deafened me, “TAILYNN SAID TO SAY HI YOURSELF!!!”
“Gee, thanks for shattering my eardrum babe.” Anthony laughed at my comment,
“Sorry.” I could practically hear him blush.
“Hey Tailynn!!!!” Ian snatched the phone away from Anthony.
“Hey Ian, how are you?” I asked.
“Pretty darn well myself, how about you?”
“Just got some hate mail but I took care of it.” I tried to sound as confident as possible.
“Oh what in tarnation? Who would do that to such as person as you?!” Ian said in a rough Southern accent.
I cracked up, “Jealous girls, that’s who. Ian, are you high or something?” I couldn’t help but ask through my tears of laughter.
“Nah, just had about three Redbull’s and am about ready to die is all!!!” He laughed.
“Why?”
“Gotta stay up all day and night to edit our five year anniversary video; we filmed a lot of shit so we gotta stay up all day and night to edit our five year anniversary video!!! Woooooo!!!!”
“Well please don’t die ‘cause we’ll be sad if you do.” I reassured him.
“Whatever, I don’t mind.”
“Okay then,” I smiled even though he couldn’t see me, “well nice talking to you Ian, can I talk to Anthony now?” I sat up straight from my chair and leaned by elbows on the desk.
“Fine, just try to get rid of me why dontcha?” I giggled as he handed the phone back to my boyfriend.
“Sorry about that, I shouldn’t have let him drink all those; he’s literally bouncing off the walls.” I heard a loud thump followed by Anthony laughing, “did you hear that?”
I nodded until I realized he couldn’t hear me, “oh yeah I did.”
“That was Ian trying to tip over one of our kitchen chairs with him on it standing up.”
I burst into laughter, “are you serious?”
“Yeah and now he’s on the ground just laying there. I think he just fell asleep.” I laughed until Anthony said, “oh wait, he’s not sleeping…Ian?”
Tension started to build up through the phone, “Taybe, I gotta call you back; I have to call 911, I think Ian knocked himself out and uhhh, gross, broke his knee.”

DUN DUN DUHHHHH!!!! Lol

Turn That Frown Upside Down- Part 14

Nicolette stared blankly at the girl, not knowing how to react from her rude gestures and tone of voice.
“So you gonna let me in or what?” the blonde haired girl said between smacking her bubblegum.
Nicolette answered her by slamming the door in her face.
“What the hell?!” we heard her muffled voice from the other side.
“Nic that probably wasn’t the bes-” Nicolette snatched my arm and dragged me to our room before I had time to finish my sentence.
Nicolette grabbed what was hers off from the floor and stuffed it in her bag.
“Pack your bag.” She muttered to me, “PACK IT NOW!” she snapped when she saw that I hadn’t budged.
“No.” I started out calmly, “No, I’m waiting for Anthony to get back.”
“Fuck Anthony and Ian, we’re leaving!!!” she violently shoved her bathroom products in the front pocket of her suitcase.
“NO I’M NOT LEAVING WITHOUT SAYING GOODBYE!” I screamed at her.
“YES YOU ARE!” She screamed back and grabbed my forearm, “pack your fucking bags NOW or I will drag you behind the god damn car!!!”
I had never seen Nicolette be so violent, which made sense because I’ve never been in a situation like this with her before. I got why she was so upset; her boyfriend was cheating with her and she had just found out but that didn’t mean Anthony was cheating either!
I decided it was best that I followed her orders and packed up my bags but I didn’t want to leave Anthony without him knowing. So I took a pen from my purse on the bed and a piece of paper from the night stand and wrote,
“Nicolette found out about Ian’s girlfriend and she’s leaving right now. She’s forcing me to come with, please call me when you get this, I’m so sorry this happened! <3 Tailynn” I wrote down my cell phone number and left it on my side of the bed hoping he’d find it there.
Nicolette had gone to Anthony’s room to get her laptop and camera. She stormed back in and stuffed it in her laptop case, took both her bags and mine and stomped out the door. When she got to the front door she set down my bag to open the door. The girl was waiting next to the railing.
“Oh you’re leaving so soon?” she smiled.
“Fuck you!” Nicolette exclaimed and I covered my open mouth with my hand; partly because I was shocked at what she’d said and partly because it was hilarious seeing the girl’s mouth drop to the ground.
Nico picked my suitcase back up and hobbled down the porch stairs. She hurled them in the back seat of her car. I had no choice but to follow her, all my stuff was in my bag which had now been angrily thrown in her car. She whipped open her door and climbed in the driver’s seat.
“Get in.” she growled at me; I hesitated before circling the hood of the car to get into the passenger’s seat.
Nicolette put the car in forward and sped out of the neighborhood. It wasn’t long before we were on the highway, but something felt off. I knew the way back to LA but it seemed as if she had forgotten.
“Um, where are we going Nic?” I was scared to ask.
“The fucking airport.” She didn’t even bother looking at me.
“Why?!” I exclaimed.
“I was planning on going to New York for a couple of days; I might as well go now seeing Ian totally fucked me over.” She pushed the gas pedal a little more.
“You don’t wanna go home to pack more things first?” I tried convincing her home was the best place to go now.
“NO; I WANT TO GO TO NEW YORK NOW!” She whined.
We eventually got off on the exit where the nearest airport was; I was praying that Anthony would get my note soon and call me. I was also praying that Nico wouldn’t kill us with her reckless driving.
Nico parked further away than necessary but I was fine with that; it gave us more time to walk there which gave Anthony more time to find me. It was a race against time, a race that could determine Anthony and my relationship for good.
We finally got to the doors of the airport; but to my disappointment my phone had not vibrated from a phone call or text message. We walked inside; it was ginormous, escalators crowded the back of the building, a ticket booth was right in front of us; Nico bounded up to it.
“Two tickets for the New York flight at 10.” Nico tried to say as calmly as she could to the ticket master. She paid for it without a hassle and I had to wonder where she’d gotten the money from.
When I asked her about it she said, “I told you I’ve wanted to go to New York for a while, I saved up my money and now we are going! It was meant to be a surprise for your 20th birthday next month but this seems like the best time to do it now.” She grabbed her bag that she had set down next to her and we passed the ticket booth making our way to the New York flight gate.
FINALLY my phone buzzed in my front pocket,
“Hello? Anthony?!” I answered in a frenzy.
“Tailynn, where are you?!” His usual calming voice was now tense and nervous.
“Nicolette drove us to an airport; I’m not sure which one.” I was on the verge of crying.
“I think I know which one, the one nearest to Sacramento right?”
“Right.” I confirmed.
“We’ll be right there.” Anthony said. I heard faint arguing from Anthony’s side of the phone. I made out some words like “sorry” and “never again” from a male voice which must’ve been Ian. A more feminine voice was saying things like “whatever” and mentioned Nicolette. Not going to lie, I kind of wanted to punch both of them in the face.
“McKenna and Ian are arguing over what happened in case you were wondering.” Anthony informed me but the arguing was forced to stop because Ian was leaving with Anthony to chase after us. I found that incredibly romantic on Anthony’s behalf but incredibly stupid on Ian’s. Nicolette was going to kill him for sure. Anthony told me he’d call me when they got there and hung up.
Nic and I were waiting on one of many benches for the flight to be called. Since it was only 9:15 we had a while to wait. I didn’t know if Nico knew how long it was or that I was even talking to somebody but she hadn’t said anything so I figured it was all good for now.
Forty five minutes had passed and I started to worry; I didn’t know how long it’d take the boys to get here, if they were even going to get here in time anyway. I was just about to call him when my phone buzzed; it was Anthony.
“We’re at the airport now, where are you?” I heard him breathing heavily.
“We’re by New York flight gate it leaves at 10, you gotta hurry Anthony!” I stood up and stood on my tip-toes to look around for him.
“Go passed the ticket booth, up the escalator on the far left, there are tons of benches near the back that’s where we are, hurry up we got like 10 minutes!” I walked to the edge of the railing on the second floor to try and search for a hottie with a phone.
“I see you!” Anthony yelled through the phone; I could also hear him in person. I searched the grounds until I saw Anthony and Ian running down the airport and towards the escalator that led to where we were. I hung up my phone.
“Flight 30 to New York now boarding!” A woman’s voice engulfed the entire airport and I turned around to see Nicolette stand up and start walking towards the gate.
“YOU WAIT RIGHT THERE!” I screamed at her. That not only got her attention but the attention of a couple of other people trying to board the plane.
“We’re leaving now!” Nicolette turned towards me and grabbed my forearm. She was surprisingly strong because she dragged me passed all the rows of benches. We were just about to pass through the gate when Anthony and Ian’s heads popped out from the escalators. They sprinted towards us. I finally shook Nicolette off my wrist and threw my arms around Anthony’s neck.
“Thank you for coming, thank you Anthony!” We separated from our hug to kiss. He was out of breath but he didn’t seem to care. My head buried into Anthony’s shoulder, “I thought we wouldn’t get the chance to say goodbye.” I said through his shirt.
We separated again so I could see where Nicolette had run off to; to my surprise she was talking to Ian,
“Why are you here?” she muttered.
“I’m sorry.” Was his response, “but you don’t have to leave like this.”
“Last call to boarding Flight 30.” The woman’s voice came over the intercom again.
“Come on Nic, you don’t have to leave now.” I repeated. “Let’s please go home.”
Nicolette hesitated, “I’m leaving; I’ll be back in a week.” She turned to walk through the gate but this time I grabbed her arm,
“You leave and I’ll never speak to you again.” I said in my most serious tone.
That made her think twice. She looked back to the gate, back to us, back to the gate and her eyes finally landed back on us.
“Fine, I’ll stay.” She pushed passed Anthony and I and walked down the escalator.
“Common.” I took Anthony’s hand and we followed her.
When we got outside and found our car, Anthony helped put my stuff back in the trunk and gave me one last hug.
“Don’t forget to call me everyday.” He whispered.
“I won’t.” I said.
Our lips touched in a final goodbye. I climbed back into the car; Nicolette was talking to Ian again. I looked over at them just in time to see Ian give her a hug. She loosely wrapped her arms around his waist before getting into the car. I waved bye to Ian and he waved back. Nicolette left the airport in less of a hurry than she did trying to get here. Looking back towards the two boys standing in the middle of the parking lot, I knew that Anthony and I would be together soon, the trouble was, I didn’t want to wait. I hoped Ian and Nico would remain friends because I don’t know what life would be with awkward moments between those two.

As time passed, Ian and Nicolette became just friends but they never spoke about McKenna. As for Anthony and I, well, I guess I’m just going to have to tell another story about how we made it through. :)
